It has taken until today for us to build an Alpha version worthy of being called an iBeta version. It is great when the code no longer blows up or calls you nasty names. It is now quite well behaved we think.
Next week the iBeta group that have singed up so far will be getting the chance to use the spanking new iBeta version on their iTouch and iPhone to make WiFi way more fun in the wild concrete jungles we find ourselves in.

Beta program opens its door today
Our McYork Dot Com innovative application has just passed all the rigorous Alpha testing (we care to do ). Today we open the Beta program to those individuals with the right stuff. Click over to the Beta info page and see how you can make a difference (or just say hi - the check box - via the web form so we can contact you when we publish the released version).
The app only works in Canada at the moment. So please understand that Beta testers are currently only needed in Canada.
Regardless of how you feel about testing out an app before it is released - we appriciate your reading this post and keeping us in mind once we release the app to the public and have a link to it on the iTunes Store (gosh we hope so).
Until then - real coffee comes from our good friends on the Big Island, The Fikes.

You've FaceBooked now FOLLOW
I'd like to explore this follow option now available on Blogger. If you read this post please take a few minutes to hook up and follow the blog. You can see a link of the followers on the right navigation bar. If you are lucky you could be the first to follow (me I am following the blog and that does not count I am sure). Yes it is yet one more thing to hook up to an remember - but if you have a Google account already (as you should) you can just click click and there you go.
PS: "the as you should" comment on the Google account can be discussed later - take it on faith - you should all have one by now. It is not JUST email.

New iPhone application now in the works
Some of that McYork persistence is starting to pay off. We get ideas, filter them down to the basics, and see what can be done. We have one idea distilled now and are working through the details of code you need to learn to make the iTouch and iPhone jump.
It will save people time and take 10 seconds to use when it is needed. It will make what you may already have just that much simpler. We predict this to be a basic 99 cent app that brings just enough to the table that it is truly useful. It is not yet another app, it does a tiny bit of real work when you need it to save you time.
Stay tuned for more details as we get our Alpha code up to Beta code. Should be available some time in Q4 this year.

Will the Real Blubble Gum Martini please stand up
The artist has struck again! Here try this one. Then it struck me - that's bubble gum!
So if anyone tells you it's not a real bubble gum martini - try theirs then try this one. Even if they have some pink stuff or chewy bits - I assure you this one has the depth of a real drink. One you can call with confidence for "another round".
1 and 1/2 oz Level 42 FEIJOA Vodka
1/2 triple sec
1 oz Squeezed lemon
1 oz Pomegranate juice
1 Tbsp sugar (or Splenda equivalent)
Shake with ice - pour.

The Dyslexic Minute - time travel for the rest of us
The Dyslexic Minute
time travel for the rest of us.
"All right, I'll just be a minute". You don't really mean 1 minute, or just 60 seconds do you. No it is an expression, not the truth. I am going to coin the phrase "I'll be one Dyslexic minute" and define what it means. This is for fun and or those that hate to lie and can sneak this phrase in to get more time.
What am I going to gain by this? For starters there are 37 dyslexic minutes to the hour not 60. But if you add up all 37 they come to they come to 1314 real minutes. Buying you almost 30 hours an hour. Talk about time travel! I'll learn how to share a spreadsheet off of Google and show the numbers some day. For now read on...
Let's start with the first minute of the hour :01. Dyslexed it becomes :10, you flip the digits. So the first Dyslexic minute of the hour starts at :01 and ends at :10 --- 9 real minutes! The second dyslexic minute starts at :02 and ends at :20 --- that's 18 real minutes long but only one dyslexic minute! If you have not guessed it by now, a dyslexic minute is very context / time sensitive. If the listening party hears "just one dyslex" and they think the real time is :01 but you think it is :02, there has been a time sensitive failure. To solve this slight problem you just remind the listener of the time as you inform them. "It is 12:23, just one dyslex". Now they know what you have said --- probably 9 real minutes.
The simple rules are as follows:
Common phrases now heard about town:
(add more with comments):
"It was like 2:22 am at the bar when I dyslexed a minute. Then all of a sudden I was in a Taxi going home."
"It's 6:15, I'll dyslex and freshen up in my room then meet you in the hotel lobby. That will enable us to still be on time for dinner @ 7."

The simple rules are as follows:
- Numbers like 12 just transpose and move forward on the clock.
- Numbers like 51 flip the hour like this, 12:51 ends at 13:15 and is 24 real minutes long.
- Double numbers like :44 flip the hour and are all 60 real minute long. So 12:44 end at 13:44.
- small:big[6,7,8,9] don't translate to anything and are either not valid or just 1 real minute long. Tell me what you think, too much math can hurt so subtracting from 60 and such is not going to be as welcome. If they just don't count then we can keep the cool 37 minutes to the hour idea above.
